random rant

K…I’ve been living in the country for the last 5 years. It’s only recently that I started spending time in the city and I gots to say… WTF people, what motivates that train of thought rumbling through your head, hum? Enlighten me?

First…Escalators…  Why do you “non-climbers” block the way of those trying to walk up/down the escalator? Is it some sort of silent protest against exercise? Stop it. Seriously…scootch over to the right…please…

K…Doors… HOLD EM OPEN FOR THE PERSON BEHIND YOU. I do, I’m a girl. I’m not doing it to promote equality, or cause I think you’re old or weak, I’m not trying to pick you up and I’m not trying to rob you either. JEBUS people. It’s called being NICE. Have you city people become so jaded? Really? Jaded or pre-occupied? So caught up in ‘whatev’ that the thought of the door you just barreled through slamming into the face of the person behind you never crossed your mind. Sigh.

Coffee Line-Ups …. I’m 12 minutes into my 15 minute break. I want my double double. The person in front of me has been standing in the same line for just as long yet when they get to the counter they don’t know what they want.. WHAT THE HELL?? You know how in grocery stores there are checkouts for people with 12 or less items…well there should be lines like that at Timmies. You’re either in the ‘I know what I want’ line or ‘Ummmmmmm’ line… your choice. Just remember when you’re lollygagging at the counter that as I wait for your sorry ass to decide on which variety of timbits you’d like to have- I am playing out scenes of me kicking you in the shin.. cause you’re a jackass…still waiting

Finally (for now)

Do people still have conversations in this town. I watch people…travelling together…IGNORE one another and engross themselves with thier cellphone, and ipods and blackberries instead. Wait..are you texting one another?!

It’s like Wall-E. It REeeALLY is.

That’s creepy, and sad.

32 years… thinking at times I had found my match, but they were just pieces of you… and now that you are here, I spend most of my days completely dumbfounded that I managed to catch your eye at all… I am so lucky to have met you..

I know what I want for my birthday/graduation/christmas.

quietblackbird:

Friends. Listen Up.

I want a friendship scrap book. Someone can organize it. They get a cheap scrap book and secretly offer that each of my friends make a page for it. They can fill it with pictures, quotes, words, or stories. Just something really cute for me to look back on. Then you put all the pages in the book and I get it as a present.

I’d fucking love that thing. It’d be the best present in the whole entire world.

I want this to happen.

If it doesn’t I’ll make it happen for someone else.

Good idea?

That`s an awesome idea! Have you seen `My sister`s keeper`? Her scrapbook was phenomenal! If you can’t get your friends behind the idea here’s a suggestion..Few years for my Bday I had my friends each make me a CD of music they thought helped define them, so that when I found myself missing them, I could listen to the CD’s:) It’s not as cool as your idea, but I have the CD’s still, and they are a cherished part of my music collection….

Shiver me timbers..

So today the oil ran out in my building…then a fuse blew rendering the only baseboard heater in my apartment completely useless. It was almost as cold inside as it was outside…I’m telling you, there was actually time when we could see our breath.. BUT, instead of ranting and bitching..which I was tempted to do.. me and the kidlets snuggled together under a mountain of blankets and watched movies together, not only did we manage to keep warm, but we actually had a stellar day. Journey Vs Destination baby. ( we now have heat heat btw ) :)

Adventures in Public Transport..the Prequel

I’d just started working in ottawa, and was still figuring out my buses. One particular day, in early December I totally blanked on which 16 I should be taking.

As the driver opened the doors I shot him a slightly bewildered smile and asked if this particular bus would get me to the Carlingwood mall. He grined mischeiviously back at me, then donned the most sincerest of faces as he replied “My only wish is to make you happy” I laughed, boarded the bus then said ” in that case, take me to the Carlingwood mall” he giggled and said ” your wish is my command.”

LMGDAO, that driver made my week. Journey VS Destination!!

Adventures in Public Transport, take 2

New Years Eve I had to work at a different store location. My co-worker jotted down the bus route to get there, but when I took to begin the journey back from work…I was slightly anxious, and far from confident that I knew the route.

Eventually I found myself at Lincon Feilds standing outside the open doors of an 85 bus..

Me: Um…This Bus go to the Carlingwood Mall?

Driver: That depends…would you LIKE me to take you to the Carlingwood Mall.

Me ( grining ): Yes, yes I would.

Driver: Then Hop on in, Lets Go! You taking me shopping?

Me: Hells no, I gotta check in at work.

Driver: Oh? Well, good…cause I hate shopping..

Heeheehee

Journey Vs Destination!

Adventures in Public Transport..

Boxing Day found me on a bus headed to work after being coned into going to the market the day before… Tired and in need of coffee I was slightly grumpy and in need of a smile..  about 2 minutes into the trip, i realize someone on the bus is whistling…the same 4 bars of a song…again and again…weird, but slightly amusing. The whistler continued the ditty until the bus rounded the corner, then… a cresendo’ed fire truck whistle replaced the song, every time the bus made a corner, the same thing happened.  It was then i realized the whistler was the bus driver…the slow grin started to spread, and I found my happy place again.  Journey Vs Destination indeed.
